Sharpton / Hitchens Debate - Can Morality Exist Without God?

Complete video at: http://fora.tv/fora/showthread.php?t=1007 Author Christopher Hitchens debates the Reverend Al Sharpton on the question of whether morality can exist in the absence of God. ----- A Debate: God Is Not Great with Al Sharpton and Christopher Hitchens. Taking on possibly the greatest issue of our time - the malignant force of religion in the world - Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion through a close and learned reading of the major religious texts, citing numerous historical instances in which sexual repression and outrageous acts of violence have been committed in the name of God. He argues for a more secular life based on science and reason, in which hell is replaced by the Hubble telescope's awesome view of the universe, and Moses and the burning bush give way to the beauty and symmetry of the double helix. -- NYPL Christopher Hitchens is an author, journalist and literary critic. Now living in Washington, D.C., he has been a columnist at Vanity Fair, The Nation and Slate; additionally, he is an occasional contributor to many other publications. Al Sharpton Jr. is a Pentecostal minister, a political activist, civil rights activist and film actor. In recent years, Sharpton has also become a perennial candidate in his quest for the Democratic Party's nomination for President of the United States. Author of "Go and Tell Pharaoh: The Autobiography of the Reverend Al Sharpton."

Islam, Christianity and Morality ( 1 of 2 )

Does the Bible promote a decadent life style, like that of MTV spring break or "Girls Gone Wild" college party life? Doug Beaumont, who is currently on faculty at Southern Evangelical Bible College, was given an opportunity to provide a "second opinion" and cross-examination pertaining to the evidences presented in the Britney Spear's Morality debate conducted with Tektonics.org. This debate identified the Bible as one of the major contributing factor to the moral decay of America and the West, and further demonstrated that Britney Spears falls well within the Biblical moral lifestyle and does not contradict it. Both these debates, reconstructed the lifestyle of human society living well within the confines of Biblical morality. Thus, a great deal of attention was given to not violate any Biblical teaching in the reconstruction. Then this moral lifestyle was examined and compared to the moral life in the United States, and an amazing match was found. Finally, very few objections were raised pertaining to Islamic morality, which was presented as the key solution to fixing the problem of moral decay in our societies. Israel, Terrorism, and the Morality of National Defence

Two days after the July 12, 2006 kidnapping of 2 Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah terrorists who were stationed in Lebanon, I was a member of Michael Coren's news discussion panel. With me on the panel were journalist Claire Hoy, the Ontario president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Sid Ryan. Not mentioned explicitly in the clip is that, at CUPE's May 2006 convention, Sid stood for re-election. He supported CUPE's resolution 50, which called for a boycott and sanctions against Israel for what was referred to as "apartheid" against Palestinians. He was re-elected. For the first 11 minutes or so, Sid does most of the talking (nothing new for Sid), but what he says is both interesting and revealing. To my mind, he epitomizes the pacifist in refusing to distinguish between killing and murder; he epitomizes the left, and its, er um, "attitude" toward Jews and Israel; and he demonstrates the deep...let's just say "compatibilities"...between international socialistic trade unionism and international Islamic terrorism. Sid propounds the idea that Israel's response is morally equivalent to Hezbollah's attacks on Israel, and implies that the side most blameworthy is the side that has killed the most people. My assertion (about 12 minutes in) that Hezbollah is, morally speaking, the murderer of its own human shields when those individuals are killed by Israeli bombs during an Israeli defensive strike sends Sid on nothing short of a tirade.

Meet Yogiraj Live: http://hamsa-yoga.org Visit Yogiraj's website to see his tour schedule and for lots of articles, and streaming radio interview, mantras, and exclusive video of him. Are you inherently a hypocritical being or a noble being? What's deep inside the depths of your consciousness? Why are your actions one way and your thoughts another? What are the teachings of the Buddha regarding thought vibrations and manifestation? *** Yogiraj is considered an illumined living master and solar seer, and helps sincere practitioners of yogic meditation awaken to higher levels of consciousness through chakra awakening/activation and esoteric practices of Himalayan yoga. Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath was born on May 10, 1944 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. He has been meditating since the age of 3, and spent his early years in the Himalayas amongst the HamsaNath yogis, in whose presence he was transformed. The divine transformation flowered after his deep and personal experiences in 1961 and 1967 with the yogi-christ Mahavatar Shiv-Goraksha-Babaji, the same spiritual master described in Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi. He has a wife of 30+ years, Gurumata Shivangani, with whom he built by hand the Hamsa Yoga Sangh Ashram (Spiritual Retreat) outside the city of Pune, near Bombay, India. They have two sons, and two grandchildren. Yogiraj teaches yogic meditation for the evolution of human consciousness. These perennial practices of yoga are the most ancient closely guarded sacred practices of the Himalayan yogis and masters from time immemorial. They help the practitioner gradually transform him/herself into the likeness of his/her own divinity. This ancient art and science has been a way of life for rare yogis and ascetics of India and abroad who have sacrificed everything in the search for their own inner Truth, their inner Godessence. Today, Yogiraj demonstrates in his own life and livingness, that powerful spiritual practice can be integrated with family life and a career. By the blessings of Babaji, Yogiraj teaches these techniques, which he collectively calls "The Alchemy of Total Transformation" to sincere seekers throughout the world, who wish to integrate these practices into their daily life, without the necessity of giving up worldly pursuits. These techniques are called: 1. Mahavatar Babaji's Kriya Yoga (N.B., the exact same kundalini kriya originally given to Lahiri Mahasaya in the 19th century) 2. Siddhanath Surya Yoga - A dynamic osmosis of solar healing. Pranic self-healing with solar power. 3. Siddhanath Hamsa Yoga - The Way of the White Swan. If earth peace is to herald the dawn of the new age, let us all realize that: Humanity is one's only religion, Breath one's only prayer, and Consciousness one's only God. (more) (less)
